7.5 million people in the US experience social barriers from language problems. Voice is an app concept I and my classmate Peter Jacobson designed in response to this issue.
Through online research and interviews with speech and language pathologists, Peter and I discovered that a core problem faced by SLPs and their clients is lack of good feedback outside of meetings. People suffering from speech and language problems can’t always tell if they are doing an exercise correctly, meaning that home practice can actually be counterproductive.
Voice allows speech & language pathologists to assign practice exercises for their clients to work on at home, and provides in-the-moment feedback to the client. The SLP can view the client’s progress, and use that information to tailor the next face-to-face meeting.
